Our college had the privilege of participating in the IBSC Annual Conference 2024, a prestigious event that brought together educators from around the world.
During the conference, our Assistant Vice Principal, Ms. Amanda Ng, our Head of Citizenship and Social Development, Ms. Heather Chan, and our Form Convenor of Common Core - Extended Study, Mr. Paul Lam, had the opportunity to present our innovative school-based two-year program, Common Core - Extended Study, for senior secondary boys on education for sustainable development.
In our workshop, we highlighted the key aspects of our program, which focuses on empowering students through student-led action and research-based study. We emphasized the importance of engaging students in hands-on activities that promote sustainability and encourage them to take ownership of their learning. We demonstrated the use of systems thinking, design thinking, and Lego Serious Play as one of our playful learning experiences for students to collect data in their research process. The workshop received enthusiastic feedback from attendees.
Our Assistant Vice Principal, Ms. Flora Wong, also established connections with other boys' schools and explored student exchange programs. These professional exchanges led us to make numerous new friends who share a deep passion for boys' education. Through teachers' action research, reading, and professional development, we will collaborate with other boys’ schools and further enhance our commitment to fostering a conducive learning environment for our students.
Overall, our participation in the IBSC Annual Conference 2024 was a valuable experience, allowing us to share our college initiatives and contribute to the global conversation on boys’ education.
