English Carnival: Fun, Games and Learning for Forms 1 and 2

On Friday, 7 July, the English Department hosted an English Carnival for Forms 1 and 2 students. The carnival provided an enriching post-exam activity for students to apply their English language skills in an enjoyable way.

The School Hall, History Room, and Sustainability Development Centre were transformed into bustling hubs of language game stalls, where students who participated in the games had the chance to win stamps to redeem exciting prizes.

In addition to language games, there were magic and cardistry demonstrations, a "gratitude station" manned by the Guidance Team, and three themed game stalls organized by the Integrated Humanities Department, the Moral and Civic Education Team, and the Careers and Life Planning Team.

The food stall in the hall was a crowd favorite, with students clamouring for cups of popcorn and handfuls of maltose crackers. Our PTA parents and student helpers also set up a bazaar table selling sundry items such as toys and books. The proceeds from the food stall and bazaar sales will be used to upgrade the two English Rooms on campus.

While there was a flurry of excitement in the school hall, the hall balcony and gymnasium were buzzing with a tense, nail-biting atmosphere as students participated in high-stakes spelling contests and inter-class quizzes.

The hall balcony also hosted the Speech Festival Performance, featuring the winners of this year's Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival delivering their winning pieces with grace and poise. The Poetry Battle was another standout event held there, with representatives from Forms 1 and 2 English sets battling it out with their original renditions of a set poem to win prizes.

Overall, the English Carnival was a tremendous success, serving as a fun, educational, and memorable conclusion to the school year for Forms 1 and 2.
