SPC 170th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service

Friday April 21 was truly a red-letter day for St. Paul's College. We were finally able to welcome distinguished guests, alumni, parents and friends to St John's Cathedral for our twice-postponed 170th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service.

The service captured the rich history of the College through scripture readings by Dr Cheng Cheuk Sang, Arnold (Chairman of St. Paul's College Council) and Jeremy Woo (Form 5A), poetry by Mr Timothy Ha Wing Ho MBE, JP (Former Principal of St. Paul's College) and spoken word by The Most Revd Dr Peter Kwong Kong Kit (Archbishop Emeritus).

The Most Revd Andrew Chan (Archbishop and Primate) delivered a powerful sermon challenging all of us present to embrace wisdom in all its fullness.

The various choirs, under the direction of Mr Raymond Fu, Mrs Sandy Ng and Mr Kirk Ma, offered wonderful tributes in hymns, which were well received and enjoyed by all.

Prayers for all present were offered by Mr Yuen Dick Yan, Dennis (Principal of St. Paul's College) and Mr Mak Chi Ho, Michael (Headmaster of St. Paul's College Primary School) and the service concluded with the rededication of the College by The Rt Revd Matthias Der (Bishop of the Diocese of Hong Kong Island).

As the apostle Paul states in his letter to the Corinthians Chapter 3:6 'One plants, another waters but God gives the growth', we give God thanks for Revd Vincent Stanton for planting the seed of St. Paul's College all these many years ago.

Many Paulines have passed through the hallowed halls of St. Paul’s College, and it is on their shoulders that we now stand. They have watered the seed, and we pray that God will continue to give growth to our school, St. Paul's College.
