Christmas Carol Service 2021

The Christmas Carol Service was celebrated in the School Hall on the morning of 21 December.

The carol service commenced with the singing of the processional hymn, “Once in Royal David’s City”, and the lighting of the Christ candle by the Reverend Francis Yu, Deacon of St. Stephen’s Church.

The Nativity of the Lord was then recounted through scripture readings from the gospels and through hymns sung by the College Junior Choir and the Intermediate Chamber Choir.

Our chaplain, Reverend Shazz Turnquest, gave the homily. He shared with the congregation the meaning of celebrating the birth of Jesus: He is our Saviour, who came down from heaven to earth to rescue us from the finality of death and from the burden of sin. Father Shazz also reminded us that we should always observe and be thankful for the Lord’s gift of salvation.

At the close of the service, the congregation of teachers and students sang together the recessional hymn, “Joy to the World”, and their joyful singing resonated throughout the school hall.

While we celebrate this festive season with our loved ones, let us not forget the disadvantaged and the underprivileged in our community, and let us love in action and deed.

From everyone at St. Paul’s College, we wish you a joyful and meaningful Christmas!
