On Saturday, 17 April, the Inauguration Day of the Mentorship Programme for the Class of 2023 was successfully held on Zoom for the first time in our history after months of preparation. Now in its 17th year, the programme co-organised by the College and the Alumni Association aims to bring the worlds of mentors and mentees together, and facilitate student participants’ career and life planning.
We were immensely grateful to 35 alumni mentors from all walks of life and different professional backgrounds for giving up their time to give back to the SPC community. This year, the programme adopts a new approach called design thinking to mentoring our students. 16 groups were formed based on the interests of the participants. Having attended a 4-hour training workshop conducted by a certified coach on 10 April, mentors became familiar with ways to engage our students in exploring life opportunities. On the Inauguration Day, mentors systematically guided students through the process of reflecting on personal priorities and setting goals in the areas of health, study and social life.
We hope the revamped mentorship programme helps students start their life planning early so that they will be well prepared for their future life.
