Form One Admissions Briefing Sessions for Academic Year 2020-2021

On 2nd November, we warmly received many parents and prospective students to the Form One Admissions Briefing Sessions held in the school hall.

At the opening of the sessions, Principal Mr. Dennis Yuen extended a cordial welcome to all the parents and students. Mr. Yuen then introduced to the visitors the missions of St. Paul’s College and its fine, long tradition of education.

After the Principal’s welcome address, the Vice-principals took turns informing the audience of the special features of the College. Mr. Alan Yuen spoke on the academic curricula we offer, from self-directed learning and STEM education in the junior forms to DSE and GCE IAL in the senior forms. Mr. W.H. Wong subsequently highlighted the strong, broad student support provided by the College, especially for Form One students. Finally, Mrs. Y.H. Chung took the parents through all the essentials regarding the application procedure and admissions criteria.

The briefing sessions also included our current and past students sharing their learning experiences at the College. They gave the visitors a fuller picture of the diverse and holistic education we strive to provide.

There was experience sharing by Cheng Tai Hin (2B) and Chan Ho Fung (2D), who talked about their struggles and success over the past academic year in Form One. School STEM team members, Yau Lok Hei (5D) and Lee Jasper Yee Jing (5B), also gave a vivid presentation about their award-winning app for monitoring stress levels based on electroencephalography.

Two star graduates from the Class of 2019 were later introduced to the stage by Assistant Vice Principal Mr. C.L. Wong. They were: Wong Hon Yin Edward, one of the six top scorers (with Level 5** in 8 subjects) in the past DSE Examination, now pursuing a double degree in law and business administration at the University of Hong Kong; and Chew Chun Hin Marcus, who is now studying in the highly selective medicine programme (Global Physician-Leadership Stream) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In their sharing, both Edward and Marcus appreciated the wide range of learning opportunities provided by their alma mater. They were especially grateful to the teachers for their devoted care and support throughout their years of learning at St. Paul’s College.

The College greatly appreciates all the parents and students who expressed interest in our school and took the time to visit us last Saturday.
